TransFair Response

Submitted by mzelmer on Wed, 2009-12-16 19:03.

Unlike some of the articles critical of Fair Trade we've posted on our site, this one certainly deserves a response.

The author levels some fairly hefty indictments of the Fair Trade Certification system (Fairtrade in Europe), and backs them up with some fairly cogent arguments.

But writing a proper response takes time, and free time is scarce at TransFair, so a response is forthcoming. But we didn't want to hold off on posting the article until we were ready to respond, because that just wouldn't have been right.

In the meantime, I encourage people to follow the link to the original article where there's already an active discussion occurring in the comments section there.

Feel free to your leave comments here or there at your preference. Though I'll only respond to comments left on this site.
