Online retailer Looma Home recently launched their range of sustainable cotton bedding on the Canadian market.
These ultra-cozy sheet sets are made from certified Fairtrade and organic cotton grown in India’s Himalayan basin. By choosing Fairtrade certification, Looma has made a commitment to source from a network of 200 small-scale, independent cotton farms. Better prices, a Fairtrade Premium and fairer terms of trade mean the farmers and workers earn a stable income, with equal wages for women and men.
Looma has also worked hard to ensure positive, worker-friendly conditions, with benefits including job-site transportation, subsidized meals and healthcare. The company intends to continue expanding their programs to further support the farming communities where their cotton is grown, including planned schools and daycares.
Denver Rayburn of Looma explains: “We source Fairtrade to show that businesses can be a tool for social good.”
Looma Home’s range of Fairtrade organic sheets is available at loomahome.com and amazon.ca. Read more about their mission here.
